We hope to have around 40 hens laying eggs at one time. We are using Rhode Island Reds, Bovans Browns and Hylines as our breeds for farm fresh eggs. Eggs will be available only to those in the CSA program or the Food Assistance Program.
Tastes like Chicken!
We will be raising free range chickens that will be available to both the CSA program and for the public. We are using Cornish Cross and Freedom Ranger breeds for meat.
Honey!
The farm will have multiple hives around it providing us with farm fresh honey. The Honey is available to everyone for purchase. We will also be selling fresh honeycomb.
At our farm, we found that instead of just throwing away produce that starts to go bad or any extra that we have, we can feed it to the pigs. We are raising Duroc and Berkshire pigs for the meat and you can add this to your CSA package or buy it own its own.
Everyone knows that some of the best steaks come from Angus cattle. This is due to their ability to marble well.
Marbling is the intramuscular fat in a cut of meat. Marbling affects the tenderness and taste of meat. More marbling means a more flavorful, tender cut. Berkshires excel in this.
Aside from the greenhouse, the farm will be producing outside crops. Many of these will be in tunnel systems to allow for a hardier crop. Will will have tomatoes, peppers, okra, corn and assorted beans and peas.
Welcome to the Patch!
On the farm we will have a berry patch with strawberries and blackberries. During season you will be able to come out and pick your own pints, learn to make jams and jellies and help with our berry patch fundraiser.
